Lighting affects appearance. In a dark room, the purple is not noticeable and the tie is burgundy. In the dark of Halloween, no one will notice. I see the purple better when the conclusion of the tie in natural sunlight and looking from the right angle. The color is actually a little more purplish brown, but my son does not mind at all, and this is not a cheap little piece.
